We passed Tintagel, which was fun to imagine King Arthur and all those stories and eventually made it into Newquay at 1800- just in time for the chip shops to open!
Newquay had its very own seal- it was very cute and wanted to play hide and seek from one side of the boat to the next!
We moored up against the wall- had to remember to keep letting the ropes out to adjust for the tide. Money is right at the back facing us.
Newquay is a gorgeous harbour- very safe and protected.
We drove to Clovelly at about 6 in the morning. What struck us most was the huge hill, of which the harbour was at the bottom! It was still dark and there were hundreds of lights lighting the way- it was such a gorgeous place! Clovelly is a drying out harbour and therefore it gave us a great opportunity to see the bottom of the boat for the first time since she had gone in at Liverpool. She seemed pretty clean to us! As dawn broke, we were able to see around us clearly and the next question was "How on earth did Jay get her in here?!" As you can see, the wall does a massive sharp right angle bend. Apparently, the harbour master had told him to keep going until he saw the wall in front of him then moor up against it. Problem was, not only was it night, it was also foggy and at the end of a 14 hour ordeal! It was impressive to do all that single-handed!! She seemed very secure and was quite happy bobbing up and down with the tide. It was fun to watch the tide come back in and slowly lift her up- reinforcing the idea yet again that this concrete brick does actually float! We got her turned around onto the opposite wall so that we could just motor out and finally left at 10am. The weather wasn't bad and we made good progress towards Newquay. The alternator was still playing up- it seemed to be fine one minute and then faulty the next. Very frustrating.
